DünyaGöz Hospital App – Enhanced Accessibility Redesign

Overview

As part of the UIX101 daily UI challenge, I redesigned the login and sign-up pages of the DünyaGöz Hospital mobile app with a focus on accessibility and usability. Given that the app serves individuals with vision impairments, the goal was to create a more inclusive and user-friendly experience.

Problem Statement

The existing DünyaGöz Hospital app did not fully cater to the needs of visually impaired users. Issues such as low contrast, small font sizes, and a lack of assistive features made navigation difficult, leading to potential frustration and exclusion for a significant portion of users.

Research & Insights

  • User Needs: Many users rely on high contrast, large fonts, and screen readers to interact with digital platforms.

  • Accessibility Challenges: Traditional login and sign-up screens often lack voice guidance and alternative support options, creating barriers for users with low vision.

  • Industry Standards: Following WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) principles ensures that digital products are more accessible to all users.

Design Solutions

To enhance accessibility, I implemented the following:

*High-Contrast Colors – Used black, white, and #E05212 to ensure strong contrast and better visibility.
*Large, Readable Fonts – Increased font sizes and used a clear, sans-serif typeface for improved legibility.
*Voice Guidance – Integrated a feature to read out the page content for users who prefer auditory assistance.
*Accessibility Features – Added options such as larger text mode and high contrast mode to accommodate different user needs.
*Help Pop-Up – Provided multiple support options, including live operator assistance, email help, and audio guidance.

Impact & Takeaways

This redesign significantly improves the user experience for individuals with vision impairments, ensuring that they can easily navigate and interact with the app. By applying inclusive design principles, I aimed to create a more accessible and user-friendly interface for healthcare services.
